OBJECTIVES OF IACBT

1. To serve as a legitimate forum for exchange of ideas, knowledge, skills and applications as well as a resource and information center for matters related to CBT in India.

2. To be the scientific organization promoting evidence-based practice of CBT in India.

3. To promote indigenous research in CBT and enhance the status of CBT as a specialized area of clinical research expertise in India.

4. To design, develop, and conduct all kinds of scientific research related to CBT and mental health.

5. To design, develop, and offer basic and advance education and training course on cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) in India.

6. To setup a system of professional accreditation for CBT practitioners registered with the association in order to promote ethical practices and high professional standards for practice; education, training and supervision; and research in CBT by the members of the IACBT.

7. To maintain a Register of the Members of the IACBT as well as a CBT Therapists Directory of those practicing CBT in India.

8. To convene conferences, seminars, workshops, study circles, meetings and lectures useful for exchange of thoughts and the spread of knowledge pertaining to CBT independently or with the co-operation and collaboration of other institutions to fulfill or further the aims and objects of the IACBT.

9. To award scholarships, prizes, free ships, travel grants, such other assistance, monetary or otherwise and facilities to Indian students of cognitive behavior therapy in the interest of science advancement and practice of CBT as a key mental health intervention.

10. To publish literature, magazines, journals, periodicals, newsletter etc. and such other material as the IACBT may determine necessary from time to time.

11. To facilitate the exchange of ideas and knowledge between the members and the Society and the Community in general by holding lectures, seminars, conferences, discussion groups, webinars or any other means.

12. To convene meetings, public awareness camps and campaigns, organize lectures, seminars to sensitize the general public about evidence based psychological treatments like CBT.

13. To take all necessary steps to facilitate professional and ethical standards in the field and discourage wrong or false practice of CBT in India. 14. To facilitate culturally competent and inclusive practice in the field.
